The Altar Flowers, week by week, are a welcome offering to our worship. Flowers are alive. They are of God’s creation. They are a fragrant offering to the God who created them. They are a symbol of new life in Christ. For all of these reasons, we give thanks to everyone who is moved to give flowers on a particular Sunday. People have given flowers in thanksgiving to God for a family member’s birthday, wedding anniversary, or other blessing. They are also given in memory of a departed loved one or friend.
The times that altar flowers are not purchased is during Lent, Palm Sunday, Easter Day, Advent and Christmas. Easter and Christmas are Holy Days observed with lilies and poinsettias.
A framed sign-up poster is located within the entrance of the chapel, on your right-hand side. No prior donor experience needed. Currently, the donation requested for Altar Flowers is $100. You may take your flowers after services on Sunday or during the week. Altar Flower Donors and their commemoration will be listed in the Sunday bulletin.
All of the arrangements are ordered through Billy Heroman's Flowers, Gifts, and Plantscaping, located at 1946 Perkins Rd Baton Rouge, LA 70808. You will not have to contact the florist. We will handle both of the arrangements, ordering, and placement for you. You will be contacted by the Parish Administrator, Jessica, the week prior to your chosen date for your specific commemoration wording in the bulletin. If you have a particular color of flower, we can put a request in to the florist and they usually will accommodate the best they can. If by change you would like to do the flower arranging yourself, just mention this to Jessica when she emails or calls.
